For example, I put the (c) after every article in my e-zine. I also add it to the bottom of every page on special reports that I give away to prospective clients, training materials, e-books, and my writing lessons. These are all self-published works. I've actually heard that too--agents and editors don't like to see copyright on an unpublished manuscript. I've also heard that they perceive it as unprofessional when they get a submission and the author has put the copyright symbol on their unpublished manuscript. From what I've read of submission guidelines for publishing houses/editors and agents, they do *not* want to see a copyright on an unpublished manuscript. If a manuscript is accepted and then published, my understanding the publishing house takes care of registering the copyright. For a self-published author, it's a different story, since that person is the publisher. - Heidi Thanks for the info.
