I agree on your major points you've made in this article. However, the best advice I can give people who want to be a best-selling author is this: try self-publishing first. Sure, you have to work half as hard as other authors do who publish traditionally, but it is worth the money. Unlike traditional publishers who lure the author in with fancy sentences and telling the author, 'We will make sure your book is an instant best-seller' is just lies, in my opinion. To me, though, telling him or her they will become a best-selling author with a publisher who writes a long acceptance letter may be all well and good at the time, but when it comes down to the nitty gritty, publishing traditionally may not be the wisest choice for an unknown author.

I published with Xlibris publishing company and they have been great. Check out my latest novel link at http://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/bookdisplay.aspx?bookid=85511.

Thanks for the helpful and insightful thoughts on the publishing world.

Sincerely,

Joseph Charles Sisk, author at Xlibris.
